What, when, and how to actively learn?

Welcome to the ALeSCo research unit

Central questions investigated within ALeSCo concern what to learn (system models, controllers), when to learn (depending on data-informativity and performance measures), and how to learn (selecting a suitable learning technique). To achive that, data-informativity is treated as a unifying thread: measures such as persistency of excitation, uncertainty reduction, or risk minimization will be analyzed and related to building a holistic framework. ALeSCo's principal investigators are expert control researchers from all over Germany: Matthias Müller (Leibniz University Hannover), Moritz Diehl (University of Freiburg), Sandra Hirche (Technical University of Munich), Timm Faulwasser (Hamburg University of Technology), and Karl Worthmann (Technische Universität Ilmenau).
